My first attempt at a fountain pen. As always, the biggest advances will likely be between the first and second attempts. It's canary wood, I think. Tulipwood is another possibility. Kit is the Classic screw cap Fountain Pen from POC/PSI.

That looks pretty nice for your first. Your photography is good also. From my experence you are right it is cannary wood, tulip wood is a cream color with pinkish lines running through it. Cannary wood has a lot of colors, yellows, pinks reds and browns and can be some very colorfull wood. I just happened to come accross a piece once and it had color that I couldn't believe and it even had some black spalting lines running through it. It is now the top of a music box sitting on my desk, the top looks like a sunset with all of the colors.
