First Fly Fishing Pen

This is a very cool theme pen. My fishing buddy immediately wanted me to make him one. I used bamboo since originally fly rods were made from bamboo. This pen has some very impressive designs and was easy to make.

I am a huge fan of Bamboo and that was going to be one of the first materials that I used to make a pen! Looks amazing! Did you have any tear out from this blank? I know its a hard wood but I have seen some bamboos that have been soft ....

I didn't experience any tear out. I cut my blank from a bamboo spoon I bought from Target for just a few bucks. Technically, I think bamboo is in the grass family, but this is some very hard material. There may be different variations out there.
