Here are a couple of pics of my first Emperor pen. The second isn't very good but it does show off the grain and it's nice alignment. Thanks again Lyle!!!

Didn't like my finish job the first time so I put it back on the lathe and stripped it and re-did it.

Nicely done! I have always wanted to see how these would look on a larger pen.
Thanks for posting the results.

It's intended as a Christmas gift for one of my sisters. Trying to decide if it's too big and if one of my Baron's would be a better fit for her. It is a very big pen!! I do appreciate the kudos from all of you all as you are some of the most respected out there. Don't know if I'll do a lot of the Emperor style but it sure is nice if that ever-so-special piece of wood or acrylic comes along. [:)]

Nice work Chris, that really looks sharp!! And you nailed aligning the grain between the top and bottom blanks!! With it running as straight as it was, you don't have any room for the "fudge" factor like you do on others with the grain running at more of an angle or on burls....
