A couple of weeks ago I got an email from someone who had bought a pen from me that said he wanted another one as a gift for a friend. An all black rollerball. The only black rb that I found was the Caballero from Exotic Blanks https://www.exoticblanks.com/Caballero-Rollerball-Pen-Kit-BTi-BTi.html They also have it in Black Chrome. Finding that I msg'd him back with various options as to components and materials (Ebony, Acrylic or Indian Buffalo horn) and a price range from high dbl digits to low triple digits. I knew he had good taste when he got back to me with the most expensive and potetially prettiest combo. Black Ti and IBh.
That's the back story, on to the pen. Blanks turned and dry sanded to 1000g, Wet sanded with Dr's, Woodshop Finishing oil to 5000g. 4 coats of his Pen Finish then on to the buffer.
I hope you like, he does. Thanks for looking.

Well Dan, it is beautiful at the moment.

I have heard the horn terror stories and avoided it. But to be honest if you look up the threads on ebony it is about as depressing. A cracking sound is often in the thread.

If I want black and wood I almost always default to African Blackwood.

Hope it goes well. It looks great now.
