A few weeks ago a neighbor asked about getting a baseball bat pen for her grandson. Yesterday was the first chance I had to get into the shop and take a whack at something new.
I turned this as a test of my thoughts on how to do a one piece closed end pen. To date everything I have done has been regular kits assembled as the manufacturer thought they should be. This is just a test project; the proportions are off for a baseball bat and the wood is some scrap I had around and isn't finished.
The biggest question that came from this experiment is where can I get extra long drill bits? I had scary little of the 7mm bit in my chuck (drilled on lathe) and went way past the flutes. I see a lot of great one piece pens here and assume there is a place to get longer good quality bits.
Thanks in advance,
Chris
