This is my first try at casting (thanks for the articles in the Library, Don!).

The pen is copperhead on top of a PSI bullet pen.

Thanks for looking!

not a bad first time! did you paint the tubes? Also, in the future you may consider using silicone plugs instead of corks, depends on how many air issues you run into and your method of casting. PtownSubbie sells the molds that I use to cast my Tru-Quarter™ blanks and they use these silicone plugs that i mention above. Great job

Thanks. I've read on the topics for awhile and now own a pressure pot and vacuum pump, but after reading Don's article on bubble free casting I decided to use just the ultrasonic cleaner. It worked very well and wasn't
much of a hassle to use.

I did paint the tubes, I used a Rustoleum light camo then let them 'bake'
in my 140 degree shop for a day.

nice looking pen you need to borrow it and bring to show n tell ..

I did 2 sets of two blanks. I did the first two thinking that if I really messed up, I could learn and still have some snake skin left.

So... I hope to turn three more (at least a couple by Saturday).

I'll definately bring one for show and tell.

Very nice

Super snake!

You guys continue to inspire me. I'm gearing up and hope to start casting soon. I hope that my first shot does that well.

Thanks. If I can do it - you can do it.

A couple of articles in the Library were of great help.
I used directions in Serge Delagues' article "Making a Silicone Mold"
and Don Ward's article, "Bubble Free Casting of Snake Blanks".
Their advice was spot on. I'm looking forward to more casting!
