First casing pen

This is my first shot at a casing pen. I about pulled my hair out trying to get the wooden sleeve right. Kept splitting the wood before I had it to the final size I needed. It is a 300 Magnum casing with whitetail antler and black chrome components. Overall I was pretty pleased.

Nice pen. I want to do one of these but the assembly process is a mystery to me. How do you glue the tube into the shell casing so that the transmission can be assembled in the correct position?

I'm curious- is the top part filled in where the indentations are? It looks like they were left so that they go in and aren't filled?

Angboy, the pen is not filled on the uper portion. I left it rough. I was just lucky to be able to drill it so that it would turn out like it is.

Pen looks great. I have to get over to Ben Avery Range and fire off some .308 rounds, so I can make one of these. Do you turn the wood on a tube down enough so it fits into the casing? Then maybe glue it in there with Gorilla Glue or some other expanding glue? Thanks for the inspiration Jeremy.

what is "the wooden sleeve"?
