Well, this is my first attempt at using the ever popular CA/BLO finish. It's a satin Euro / Purpleheart combo. I had to do a little extra sanding to get rid of a bad ripple effect during the 2nd coat, but all in all, it's not too bad. Not perfect by any means, but not bad for a first attempt. I have to thank Fred in NC - I read one of his posts regarding his technique, and tried it for myself. Here is the result - Please remember, it's my first attempt.

Ken, that came out great! I saw Bill Baumbeck do something interesting on a pen he made in his video; he used CA as a sort of sanding sealer, running a 400 grit sanding block over the blank while the CA was still wet. I tried that on a purpleheart pen I made this weekend, and it did a great job. Not that your pen needs it, but you might give that a try too; I hope to remember to do this on all of my future pens, especially the grainier pens like purpleheart.
