First Batch for 2014

I know a lot of my American friends have been suffering through terrible winter weather, but over here in Oz I haven't been able to get to my shed because of the continuous heat. No fun being in a tin shed with the outside temp over 40 deg C.

So I've been waiting for some cool evenings after work and have prepped a few and today managed to do some rather large pens. Having never done a Spring Blossom before I must say that it's a big lump of pen. Pretty happy with my progress overall.

There's a mix of timbers, beefwood, purple heart and a couple of aussie made acrylics.

Those are all great pens! I love the second one with the Turquoise/Blue swirl, beautiful.

A Great Collection of Pens to start 2014. Brett
Yes it has been a Bit too Hot to be in the Shed, but at least the shed cools in the Evening, nearly as fast as it heats in the Morning.

Pen #1 . I can't see on the cap are they grain depressions on the finish.?
If so you may be able to fill them with your finish, which I presume is CA, so that the light doesn't catch them.
Also is the Waisting on the Post End of the Blank intentional? IMHO it distracts from the classic line of the Pen.

Pen #2. A Spectacular Blank, Finished beautifuly, Perfectly suits the Kit.

Pen #3. Is that a Split in the cap where the Finial has been pressed?
Can you recall, was it Tight as you pressed it in?, or did it skew a little upon entry?
Regretably I don't know how to recover it.
Perhaps some of the more experienced guys may be able to assist you.
It is too beautiful not to be Perfect.

Pen #4. Is Glorious, Very Spectacular and Colourful Blank, Expertly Fitted and Finished.

Pen #5 Is a Terrific Pen, Beautiful Fit and Finish.

In general a Fantastic presentation and a Great start to the New Year.

Thanks all. OzTurner, Thanks for the detailed comments. Pen #3 actually isn't split. It's just a trick of the light. I had a couple split on me last year after a week or two, then I started using plasticine prior to gluing and a what a difference.

Looking forward to good year.
