Here is my first attempt at a closed end pen. The wood is mesquite with a turquise butt. The fitting with the turquise could be tighter also the ring below the middle band is one I 'burned in'.

Thanks in advance for any constructive comments.

Making the finial with the same material as the closed end segment would be the cat's meow:wink:

Was the burnline sanded almost off? Or was it not supposed to be there?

Does the segmented section at the closed end screw in or is it glued?

These closed ended Jr.Gent's are addictive, you'll have them all over the place really fast!!!!

:bananen_smilies026:A very good start for your first try !! A couple things I would change next time. Turquise is usualy paired with sterling silver, black, or crome. The matching finial would have added to the overall design as Scott said. Also in my opinion, a burned in band on any pen, screams homemade. I would have added a band of pic guard or turquise in it's place. Just my slant, not written in stone anywhere. Happy Easter. Jim S

I though of doing that but have not done that before so did not try on this one

It was almost sanded off, when I added the turquoise I resanded. As an afterthough I should have reburnt the line.

It is glued with black epoxy

Thank you Scott thoes are good ideas I do appreciate the input.

That is right did not think of that

Good point as I critiqued it my self I should have had a band of turquoise on the top somewhere.

Thank you for your input Jim I do appreciate learning and no this is not my last closed end pen. I have several in mind
