First off let me say wow you all do amazing jobs with your pens!!! I hope to be half as good as you all one day!
Yesterday I molded my first 2 pen blanks with alumilite! I had a blast doing it and couldn't wait to turn them! I have no experience turning at all and bought a shopsmith 10er for cheap! Came with 7 slimline pen kits so I made 2 of them and I am hooked!!! Don't laugh to hard at them! I definitely need help making the finish come out scratch free and high gloss.

Now there is a piece of equipment you do not see much here. Thanks for showing and continued success with your pen making in all aspects of it. :)

Interesting to see as much excitement for the 10ER as much as the pens.

Pens: Well done, both casting and finish... you're off to a great start!
10ER: Excellent, I started on my own Shoppy too, excellent equipment!

Congrats on all fronts!

Thanks everyone! I absolutely love my 10ER!!! I still might look into a more modern lathe for pen turning for the speeds but the 10ER is here to stay!!! If i do get a new table top lathe I will set the 10ER up for buffing. Thank you so much for all the nice comments and defiantly help build my confidence that i am on the right track! As far as a contest.... I am no where close to what you all can do! I look forward to posting more and seeing what you produce too!

Excellent Pens, Brian.
Great Casting of the Blanks,
It appears that you might have a slight problem with the fit of the Center Band on the Coloured Blank.
The Center Band seems to be sitting slightly askew.
Perhaps you hadn't properly squared of the End of the Blank?
That is only a minor point, and I only mention it so that you would be aware for your Future Pens.
By the Way, Keep these First Pens, and look at them after a couple of Months of Turning and see how much progress you have made.
I look forward to seeing many more of your creations.
Congratulations,
Brian.
