Firey fountain pen - with video!

Hi guys

Fancied some R&R in the workshop this evening and turned a brooks blank, and love it.

Thought i would record the making of it on my metal lathe with my gopro sports cam. enjoy the video

Nice pen but I was hoping for a full on turned and anodized aluminum pen video. Any chance one of those is in the works? Kind of miss seeing your metal pens. They were different.

sure they will be appearing again. just with the metal pens i am wanting taps and dies to move on to kitless so have put them on hold. been turning the resin pens as a nice breather from the more time consuming ones.

once i have the triple start dies etc il carry back on with some metal designs i have in mind

In the years I've had my metal lathe I never thought of chucking up a mandrel or turning between centers on it, thanks for sharing the video, it gave me some ideas.

I just got a Hero2 go pro camera and really like the resolution it has. What type of editing software do you use?

Shocking! it seems youtube has done that due to the enya track.. go figure. Just tried to enable it and got the error message "Cannot enable syndication due to a content claim on this video"

Yes mine is the hero 2 also great camera, took it for a test ride down the pirin mountains - the gopro certainly benefits from natural daylight

Just finished editing a 10 minute video of the making of a metal pen, which is then anodised and decorated. its encoding now so will post it tomorrow.

Looks awesome Brad! Loved the video, the mandrel was a genius move for sure!

Edit: I forgot to mention how cool everything looked when you were finished polishing and was hand spinning the barrels. You can't capture that fiery movement in a still image

Yep i was pleased with that too, its always frustrating when trying to photograph a pen to show its markings and it always feels like you can never do it justice ..
