G'day, this is off a piece of firewood been kicking around my place for years, it was too big to go in the potbelly (in the shed) and too twisty and gnarley to be cut up with the axe. 4yr old grandson said the other night "pa cut it up with your saw" so I did and it stopped being a piece of firewood straight away. If anyone can identify the wood I'd be happy. Polaris dressed in firewood sanded to 600 MM12000 EEE Shellawax. My guess grey or yellow box.

I would agree with your guess ... looks like the box burl to me. Love the look of that wood - not sure if anything else out there replicates that color/pattern or not. Well probably is but nothing that I can just pull out of my hat.

No matter the wood it has been turned into a fine pen, nice job. Name the wood what ever you want TFR wood (twisted fireplace reject) it makes it that much more unique.
