This is Woodcraft's Fire Fighter Pen. I've been making these blanks with names and badge numbers for fellow pen makers and thought I should make one for me! Here it is!

Very Nice! How did you make the blank? Did you cast it? If so the reason I'm asking is that I cast a blank for the same kit and I didn't like the fact that when you screw the top on the top contacts the blank. When I first put the pen together I made sure the axe was centered with the logo. Then for some reason, I can't remember why, I took the top off and when replaced the axe was off center. I disassembled the pen and assembled it again with it centered. When I was playing with it to see what might have happened that's when I saw that the top puts pressure on the blank when tightened. I used Alumilite to cast so it was hard but the axe would move depending on the amount of pressure used when tightening. That when I thought it might cause separation on the blank. Just curious as to what you found or thought. Thanks

Hi Kenny,

I did cast it with Alumilite however I did not have the same issue as you..I've made a bunch of these blanks for others and just decided to make one for me. I'm not sure what you meant by the blank separation, do you mean due to the pressure by tightening the top down? If so, I don't think you could put enough pressure on it for that. Have you made the fire pen from PSI? That's next for me.

I haven't tried the new PSI Kit. I was worried about separation from over tightening. It might have been something I did. I was just disappointed that it ended the way it did and didn't try to do something different. Thanks for the heads up PM as well.

I don't think I'd worry about the separation. More then anything I'd think you'd break the internal threads of the pen that appear to be plastic if you crank down to much. I bought the PSI to give it a whirl, I've sold about 4 of the Woodcraft during the first post on Facebook so we will see what the PSI can do!
