It seems that no matter what, an Olivewood pen always turns out pretty. I love to look at the grain. I once turned a piece that had almost no grain whatsoever...just kind of a creamy color with one grain line that looked like a meandering river. Its still one of my favorite pens.

I think the pastor will be happy to get it. Thanks for showing it. Also, its not a bad photo for an iPad/iPhone photo. Perhaps a little adjustment in the lighting would improve it by quite a bit. The lower barrel has more light, while the upper barrel is in the shadows.

Nice Job! Suggestion for your photo experiments would be to use a lighter background such as white or 18% gray! Most cameras give the best exposure around this 18% figure so if you go with white, you will probably have to compensate with a bit of "OVER" exposure compensation. Bright backgrounds have a tendency to cause under exposed objects. Hope this helps
