These are some recent pens. Comments, as long as I can understand them are welcome. ;)

Desert Ironwood Sierra. This is my first try with Unaxol as a finish. Thanks Lou and Eagle for the coaching. I could not capture the shine in the photo.

Next is one of Ed4copies blanks, the snow leopard with a Chrome Olympia. This is a great acrylic to learn on. I find it very forgiving compared to other synthetics.

The last one, because I am sleepy :) is another Sierra done in BOW. I decided to try the pen without a finish. It is micro meshed, then a protective coat of TSW.

Nice. You can get a hint of the shine just by seeing the reflection of the quarter in your first pic. Judging from that, I'd say they are pretty shiny. [8D]

You've been busy, Cav. The Olympia is stunning, excellent combination of plating and material. And it looks like you did a great job with the Unaxol. The quarter produces a very nice reflection indicating a nice glossy finish. The wood looks a bit proud at the nib end though. The BOW is a great specimen. I often finish it the way you did. It really doesn't need much finish other than TSW.

William, the snow leopard looks real good and the BOW Sierra looks fantastic. I sold nine BOW black Ti Sierras with boxes in the last two weeks at craft shows and just ordered more BOW boxes for a couple of upcoming shows. They sell themselves, especially with the certificate of authenticity which I laminate to keep it protected. When finishing my BOW pens I spray about four coats of Deft sanding sealer then buff and a coat of TSW.

Thanks for the kind words.

Gerry, you are definitely right on the Ironwood pen. I didn't notice the wood being a bit proud until I took the picture and was too lazy to do anything about it.

Good point, Lance. I have one BOW box left and will pose the two together to see how it looks.

GREAT to see you posting pens again, CAV!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a tough time deciding (BS, when one is my stuff, the decision is already made) but the CAT took the cake!!!

Now, seriously, I KNOW Desert Ironwood is always beautiful, its one of my favorite woods (sells well, too). And the BOW does have a striking grain. Posted at nearly midnight, small imperfection will be overlooked!!!

Good to see you back at the lathe!!

Thanks, Ed. I hoped you would appreciate the ad for your blanks. [:)]

BTW, is it OK if I go stand by my mailbox this afternoon? [;)]

Yes, it felt good to get back on track.
