I know that I don't get a lot of time to turn pens as I do a lot of other stuff. So I donated this morning to turning some pens.

2 are curly Koa (Thanks Lou) and platinum Gent Jr.
The middle is for a friends wedding, holly and platinum Gent Jr.

It's kinda like riding a bike. You never forget the technique, just a little wobbly after not doing it for a while. Great job Doghouse! You still have the touch of excellence.

Thanks guys, I hope that the bride enjoys it. She and her family have been special to Judy and her daughter so I realy wanted to do something special for her. Her wedding colors are white and platinum thus the colors for the pen.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful pens, John.
Doug: The popular websites, including the AAW, don't mention Holly on their toxic lists. I've turned a fair amount of holly and never had a problem, but, knock on wood[;)], I have very little trouble with any of the toxic woods.

Just thinking out loud: Holly does start to grow fungus really quick after cutting which turns it a gray color. I wouldn't call it spalting exactly, because it's a more even coloring. Just wondering if that might be the reason that holly might be considered toxic.[?][?]

Maybe there's a real expert out there somewhere.
