Escarpment Black Cherry Burl Sierra

I have not posted any pen pics in a while so I thought I would share this one with you all. It is made from Escarpment Black Cherry (Prunus serotina var. eximia)Burl wich is a variety of black cherry that only grows in Central Texas. It is quite uncommon and even more uncommon to find burls. This was from a tree that was almost dead on my in-law's property in Luckenbach, TX that I cut down this past deer season. The finish is CA.

Very nice pen Curtis, that is some beautiful wood.
I have got a chunk of P Cerasifera 'Nigra' which looks like is has some great colour in it, just wish that it had some burr.[]
