My son decided he wanted a fountain pen, so I handed him the catalogs. He picked the Emperor in Black Titanium. Then he went through my blank stock and picked a peice of Afzelia Burl from AZ.

This is the result. I sure like this kit, even though it was hairy drilling the upper barrel in a 7/8" blank.

Hi Paul,

What a great looking version of this kit! I know how you feel about drilling the cap, it's the same tube size as the Gent and the Statesman. I recently have started to drill this size on the lathe with excellent results, it's slower, but it's dead on, no issues with alignmant. I secure the blank in my Talon chuck and use a Jacobs chuck in my tail stock, I run the lathe at about 500 RPM and then I drill ...it makes life a whole lot easier now!

Again, great looking Pen

The wood deserves the kit and the kit deserves the wood. The kit and the wood deserve the craftsmanship! I know I'm lost as well.[:D]
