I like the EL Grande and several others do also. I hear complaints about the black plastic on the ends makes the pen look cheap. Well, how about matching wood instead of the plastic? The black plastic on the CB goes next. I think gold parts would look better with this wood. The wood is Tasmanian Myrtle burl and CA finish. Comments welcome: good, bad, or indifferent. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

Great looking wood and modifications,Don.
I really like the clip end;somehow the end
cap looks longer in wood.
Very nice work overall![8D]
How did you hold the little pieces to turn?

John,
A very good eye you have. I actually thought so too... I remeasured and it is 1/8 inch longer. I must have mismeasured or forgot to zero the caliper. I can correct that. I hold the parts with a Beall collet chuck. I purchased all 18 collets so I can do things like this. Thjanks for the comments. The curve look is a photographic anomaly. don't know what happened.

Tanner: Thanks for the positive words.

Don,

The pen is beautiful, size is fine - change on generation TWO, not now.

Since you're doing a generation 2, how about a CONTRASTING wood to set it off???

Bloodwood (if that's a red repair I see)?????
Walnut??????????????

Food for thought![;)]

Ed,
I think you are right...make the changes on the next one. I'm not too good on picking the right contrasting wood. I tried that on the cocobolo Jr gent last week and didn't like it. May have to get my artist wife to help out. No repairs. Just a nice piece of myrtle burl. Thanks for commenting.

parts in collet chuck.
I agree with Ed 110% don't change a thing
on this one,it is fantastic as is!
I did not mean to take anything away from
your work with my first post,it was just an
observation..just to clarify.
You are in a whole different league of turning
than I probably ever will be!!
Have a great evening.[:)]

Don, I love it -- that's what I was thinking when I asked about a tenon on the `too long' closed end baron you posted recently. Great work. I've got to try that.

Very nice pen Don,

Did you draw me in the Birthday pen swap?
Did I mention that my birthday is coming up in a few months?

Impressive work Don.
