Got the blank today from Dario. Very curly KOA. :)
Unfortunately, my photography is unable to do it justice. :(

MM to 3800
BLO and 2 Coats of HUTCC MM to 6000 between and after with a final of caranuba wax.

Beautiful job!
I got a photo box for about $3.00 on e-bay! It folds up and goes in a small pouch! The light goes on the outside to prevent glare!

oobak: It's just the photography. Still learning digital photography. Used to be pretty good with my 35mm. Just can't afford to replace it with a dslr, yet. Found another addiction......

Thanks for all the kind words. They are appreciated.

Very nice pen and kudos to Dario too. Your pic looks fine to me. Regarding Ooback's post, I have seen 4 colors of koa, some of which I was on the big Island of Hawaii. It wasn't sapwood, but was a bit lighter than this one (pictured above). I also have seen some that is almost burgundy brown, with streaks of medium red. Koa is a fascinating wood. I have one blank of exhibition grade sapwood left, that is going into my personal pen, to be engraved by Ken Nelson at Kallashan woods. I can't wait. I may mix it with the darker stuff in the bottom barrel.
