An executive friend needed a pen and this is what I came up with. He received a six figure "bonus" last year - yikes. He is a regular guy in every way and I hope he likes it. I tried something different since my last ebony was covered in CA and looked like plastic. He likes matte, wood so that is what I gave him. Walnut oil through 12,00 grit, BLO and CA at least six coats to give protection. Plenty of shine from the hardware.

It is VERY NICE to make a pen.

Great looking pen! Ebony is such a nice wood---when it behaves itself.

This time I was prepared for the ebony and all went well. I used only carbide tools with a fresh surface and more patience than normal. I always seem to need to re -sand with ebony as I find a scratch late in the grits. Oh well, no scratches now, just semigloss black.
