I made a very similiar pen for a customer a couple of months ago, but he requested another one because his son borrowed the first one and won't give it back. Ebony with Blue dyed Box Elder burl and aluminum bands. Comments welcomed.

I love the pen. Do you have any trouble with ebony or blackwood cracking?
Luckily I haven't had a problem yet with Ebony. The pieces I use are kiln dried and have been sitting for about a year. I have had problems with Snakewood & Pink Ivory in the past, but they were wax coated and a little wet underneath.
