One of the worlds most overlooked pieces of timber(JMHO)!!!
Eastern Red Cedar(Juniperus virginiana) crosscut on a Sierra!
Turned between centers, sanded to 800grit, wiped on a little BLO, spun it until dry and then finished with some friction polish/wax!

Thanks for looking!

Very nice. How long does it usually take to
spin the BLO dry?

Not very long at all, dry paper towel and fire up the lathe to a high setting. Basically I'm removing the excess that didn't soak in....

love it...but what is BLO?

Odysseos beat me to that one.....thanks!

Not sure if this is the same stuff from Davids' place or not Rick...could be, I have been cutting it...slowly. This was just one of those shorts that usually gets tossed in the burn barrel, but for some reason this piece came inside the shop.

Scott is so right, ERC cuts almost like alumilite, and smells good too. Unless it's crosscut cedar, then you better have some CA handy. But you still get the same wonderful "Grandma's Closet" smell.

Oh, and BTW . . . . . nice pen.

And if you're looking for rain, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
