Two pictures of my latest work:
a Sterling Silver Baron dressed in a mesquite, bloodwood, and maple Eagle-cross inlay blank.

Thanks y'all.
Eric, the cross is indeed slightly off center.
In fact, when I posted the pics, Eagle sent me an email saying it looked good but the cross is off.
IMHO, it's always a potential with a handmade inlaid blank.
I'm gonna have to teach myself how to do the inlay so I don't have anyone to share the blame with. [;)]
However, before I do that, I've got to use rest of the cross-inlaid blanks I got from him first.
This was the only one that's slightly off which is why I used it first -- first time using his
cross inlay blanks. If I remember correctly, one of your sons turned one of these too. They gave the
blanks high marks, and I do too. They're worth what Eagle's asking for them.

You really have to be right on when drilling the holes for the tubes otherwise your Cross will end up slightly off center after turned. Beautiful pen!

Becca,
The pen is drilled correctly and the inlay is centered.
The cross is just a hair off within the oval -- nothing that drilling and turning can alter.

LOL Gary, I just meant from my own experience........I REALLY screwed one up by not drilling down the center of the blank[:(][V]

Gary, you are correct. Both boys have turned a couple of Eagle's cross blanks (me too), and they have all turned out very nice. Do you know if he is still making them for sale?
