I finally got all my stuff in today and I was able to whip out a pen.

I selected a real nice Cherry Wood that was given to me by Brian G. Cut it up and chucked it up.

drilled and ready to go

I roughed it out and got it to size with a skew.

I used a minwax finish and voila

You should be able to see this smile while I'm up here on cloud 9

Thanks again for all the help Brian and Gordon. It has been a big confidence booster

Very Nice! Cherry is a great wood to work with. Sands nice to a smooth touch and smells great! Looking forward to seeing your next one!

Nicely done, Drew! I was curious how that blank would look; those pitch pockets along the grain give it a nice contrast.

Make sure you don't absent-mindedly confuse your Lipton with Fire Ant Killer! :doctor:

That cherry turned out (pun intended) real nice and the wax really made the grain pop. Thanks again for the help and the blank :highfive:

Take that pen and put it away on a shelf or in a drawer. 6 months from now take it out and compare it with your latest pen.
Never give that first one away. It will always be special.

Nicely done.

Very nice piece of cherry . A bit unusual to see such an extensive area of insect caused gum defects , although cherry species are prone to it .

As others have said , keep that pen . I doubt if you will ever be ashamed of it .

I love it--very nice! Glad you didn't make an ugly FAT slimline. Keep it up. Once you chew through your slimlines, try some Sierra's and you'll love 'em.

Regards,
Michael
