My wife picked up a couple of pieces of driftwood while out collecting mussels the other day. "Can you make these into a pen and pencil?"

"I can try..." These are a Euro (designer) pen and pencil set without the clip fitted. They make a nice closed end set.

Very little turning except near the furniture. A layer of CA to keep them nice and clean. (Amazing how much CA can be absorbed into very dry, porous wood.)

Can you spot which is the pencil?

I would go with the one on the right being the pencil?
I have some driftwood that I will have to turn to make a pen -that I wasn't sure how it would turn out - but with this post I think you encouraged me to try.

Aye!

The hardest part is that the heartwood was not eroded by seawater, so drilling down through it was a nightmare. The drill wanted to wander off the hard heart into the terribly soft outer.
