Double Double

Made these two pens for a friend. The double dyed stablized box elder burl blanks were provided by her.

My favourite is the first pen. I left the heart shape void in the wood alone without filling it with wood shaving. Instead I filled it with CA - neat I think.

I get more of an ice cream cone vibe from that void, but I like the effect. I think it works well with the gold hardware. Both pens look great.

I like what you did with the void. Sometimes when those show up you can hide it behind the clip but when it's in the mid section of the blank, you're often screwed. Making it a feature is excellent!

Yes, that ole box elder can sure produce a neat pen for a stinky weed tree, can't it? Nice work!
