this one blew up on me a few months back. pulled it back out tonight. and fixed it.
-double closed end maple
-waxed
-center bands removed
-mounted the cap end ring on my lathe and turned off the lip that usually covers the top of the pen end, ( does that make any sense?) any way, i love the way that part turned out. makes for a super clean look. you can get a close up in the last picture.

thanks for looking,

The mod works! And I think it works so well due to the simplicity of the timber....just blends everything together(hope that makes sense). Nice clean lines....

Does this post on the tapered end? And what kind of length are we looking at?

(smart aleck) it measures in at 6" but not postable. this is the first ever attempt at closing both ends so i didn't want to tempt fate. next to my carry pen (a baron) its only 3/4" or so longer.
it was a good confidence builder. will probably do some more along this line

I love the simplicity of the design coupled with the maple. Very clean.
Nice work.
