Today I finished up some desk pens that will be for a friend. I still have to make and finish the base and then send it out for some laser work. I made a few bases out of hickory, which is my prefered wood, but when routing the edges they burned real bad. I got a new Freud roundover bit and will trim up the bases I made and re-try the routing. If it doesn't work, I will switch to maple. Either wood is a nice contrast to the darker pens.
The pens are made from cocobolo with CA finish. It is done on a Comfort Pen kit in Titanium Gold. The length is 7 1/4" by itself and about 9" when in the funnel. The pictures are not the best as I just tossed down a blanket on the couch that we keep in the bonus room upstairs where my computer is. Once I get the the base done and etched, I will get some decent photos.
