A desert ironwood dressed in a gold and black Ti Sierra.

The blank came from Nick, thank you Don and outstanding blank

The pen is finished with 20 coats of WOP, brasso and plasticX polish. I had a lot of trouble with the WOP and the DI to start with I even stripped it right back and started again once.

There i s so much going on in the blank it is amazing, quite a difficult blank to capture on camera.

Once again a big thank you to Nick aka Don for his wonderful friendship

20 coats of wipe on poly, that would take me 20 days, b/c i wait 24 hrs. between coats.
Wonderful finish that's for sure, beautiful pen, classy.

Wow that is a beautiful finish, and a very nice piece of Desert Ironwood, I don't even want to consider how long it took to apply 20 coats of Poly.

Thanks everyone, I am proud of that one.

With the WOP I can usually get the second coat on in 3 hours, normally only run 6 coats but this blank deserved more to give it the depth

Hi Sam; How long does it take for each coat of WOP to dry? I was about to use it once, when I read on the can 3 - 4 hours between coats, I went with the 4 hr dry poly.

I'm thinking of a little WOP in a baby food jar, and applying it with an artists brush.

You mention 20 coats, why so many? I do up to 7 coats of 4 hr dry poly over the course of 3 days, and that seems sufficient to me.

I'm in no way attempting to detract from your amazing finish, just curious!
