So after showing my daughter some of the other family members on this site that make pens with there dads she decided to give it a go. Here is her first pen in pictures. Thanks to all of you who have posted pics of girls and your children turning. Thanks to you all I have something new I can share with my daughter.

Family projects are always nice to hear about. The smiles and thoughts of accomplishment live forever.

Congrats on a fine pen.

Outstanding! Please forward my congratulations on to her. Some of my best times are spent with my son in the shop. As I've told others, stock up she'll be back in the shop soon turning another one!

Great work. She'll have something to brag about at school ;)

I should have taken more snaps of my girl doing her first. Maybe I'll have to get her doing her second. She's 21 does that count.

Mine is 19 it counts. She already glued up a new blank. And she said to say thanks for all the nice comments and support. Now my wife wants to make one as well. Gonna need a second lathe so I can turn. :)

Cool thread and she is so happy. My son (Jyrene) and lovely daughter in law both turn. When they visit we all sort of live in the shop and I get to see my lathe put to very good use. Both turn good pens but Jyrene is becoming adventuresome and is having fun pushing out the edges. Good to see.

Back to daughter, this is such a good choice compared to so many of the things our young people can do. I applaud both of you. Happy turning.

Great job, quality time, Watch out you may have to by another lathe. Its a great way to teach our craft to another generation, and spend some quality time together.

Nice pen. You will always cherish the time you spend with her turning pens. Hope she continues to turn and you both have quality time and memories together.
