I finally made a pen from my Dad's old watch face that I posted a few months ago.

He wore the watch for years and years. The crystal was cracked and the face developed a neat patina before Dad finally retired the watch. The pen will be a birthday present for my sister who has really stepped up to help my parents recently after my mother broke her hip. I made a box for the pen using a photo of Dad when he was a young man. I rushed the box to make the birthday and may make a better one once I have more time.

I'd suggest a display stand for the pen and a matching frame for the photo. The pen is awesome, it deserves a prominent spot where it can be admired, definitely a conversation piece. I like your choices for the kit and background color. Well done!

Thanks Gordon, Angi, Jim, Tony, Charlie, Steve, and Sam. I decided to try to find more info on the watch. After some googling, I found that the watch was made in 1954. Dad was probably wearing it in 1957 when he was pacing the floor waiting for me to be born.

Beautiful job on the pen & box, Cody. Thanks for sharing.

I got a Bulova with that same face when I was Confirmed in 1958. I just haven't been able to bring myself to turning it into a pen yet.

Thanks For Edgar and Bob. In researching Dads watch, I ran across an identical watch for sell. It's in good condition and in working order. I could not resist and bought it on a whim. Haven't told my wife yet, might have to wrap it up and put it in my Christmas stocking.
