Crosscut Spalted Pecan on a Stratus

Sitting in the scrap pile didn't seem like a fitting place for this piece of crosscut spalted pecan. It was cut off of a pepper mill blank and it screamed out "make a pen out of me!" What an amazing marbling of colors!

Very nice pen Mike. It always amazes me what comes out of a blank that has been cross cut. There is no ryme or reason for the grain pattern, but it sure is different. Jim S

Thanks all! Yep crosscutting wood brings out whole new characteristics!

Bob, I love the Stratus and it's my daily carry pen. The mechanism is very smooth and quiet and the barrel is almost 3" long so it shows off the blank well.
