Cross Cut Red Oak Slim

Making up a bunch of slim lines to give away and thought I would try cross cutting a piece of red oak. Almost makes me want to keep it

Rick, I can see why you would want to keep it. The crosscut really makes that pen look nice.

It does look good.
Had some mulberry that look bland
until I cross cut it and it made
some real nice blanks

I tried a crosscut oak blank, couldn't get the blank trimmed down to the tube w/o chipping it badly, seems some CA would have helped, any problems with this issue? Wood extremely dry, kiln dried scrap used. The result looks great though, I'll try again!

This is only about the second or third Oak pen that looks really nice, Congratulations on a nice job [8D] the finish looks nice too.

its amazing how the appearance can change on a small piece of wood by just cutting it at a different angle. very nice!!!!

This was a piece of some old red oak 2 x 6 that a friend found in his father in laws basement when cleaning the house out. No problems with chipping on this one. This one is destined for one of our Canadian Military guys, I can always make more. CA/BLO finish.
