This is a cross cut slimline in Padauk. It's finished with CA and a top coat of carnuba wax. This was a gift for one of my wife's friends in Colorado - she wanted a "fancy" design using this kit...

I used a little Minwax Early American stain to darken the wood a bit. I find this stain works well to gently darken most woods and works great to get a deep, rich red color out of Padauk. Sometimes the orange look of padauk looks good but if you want more of a red look, try adding a little of this stain to the blank (and let it dry a few minutes) just before you do the CA finish.

Thanks for the kind words! She says she loves it - who know's if she's telling the truth or not but it is what she asked for. The clip is the one that comes with that kit - it's from Woodcraft.
