I just got through with this one. Found a scrap of wood I'm pretty sure is hickory, then cut it crossgrain to get some shimmer out of it. Shimmer it did! Really good catseye. Turned between centers with a skew drag cutting to keep the fibers in place. Finished with CA and polished with micromesh and Meguires.

That's a nice looking pen, with all of the Hickory I turn for handles, I still find some beauty in the wood, you did a nice job on turning the pen also.

Hickory and pecan are 2 of favs to turn for bowls. I often have left the chunks on the ground for a year or so and then filled the worm holes with turquoise and coffee grounds. Very attractive and sell well
