Made these this weekend. I like the Vertex Rollerball kits.
First is spalted persimmon. I FIL brought this a few years ago. I forgot I still had a chunk in the basement. Saw the spalting and gave it a go. Had to keep soaking with thin CA but it turned out alright.
The second is an M3 volcanic ash blank from PSI. Almost started a fire with it. I let the drill bit get a little hot and when I pulled it out of the blank, come of the dust was glowing red. It fell in a pile of sawdust and was smoldering pretty good. Won't make that mistake again. Turned with a carbide tool, going very slow. Sanded well but took three rounds of wet sanding with 220 grit through MM 12000. In the end it looks and feels good.
