A couple of Spartan's

I thought I'd give these kits a try- I used some mystery wood I had laying around. So far I like them.

How did you do the scallops on the top one ? On that pen, is the top, light-colored wood just one piece shaped to fit the dark wood pieces with 45 degree cuts on each side ?

The pen on the top has a glue line down the center- it started out as a couple of pieces glued together and then ripped at an angle and then glued back into a blank. This piece of wood should give you an idea...
