Here are a couple of pens I finished today. First one is a Gunmetal Civil War turned from antique wormy chestnut. The wood didn't quite enough pop for me, so I tried something new. I "pickled" the barrel with metallic antique copper acrylic paint before I put the CA finish on. Made the grain stand out, but I also put BLO on it, sort of wish I hadn't. But I'm still happy with it.

This one is my first attempt at a "fancy" pen. Triton turned from black walnut. This one was ordered as a Christmas gift. The wood came from a timber from the house that the recipient grew up in. He's in his 70s now. That was some HARD stuff. Very tough to turn. Next time I'll try turning it between centers. I really like this pen and can't wait to try another one:
