This is Mulga. Really spectacularly difficult to turn. When teh tools goes across teh grain, it's like it plucks srtings of fibre out. Took me ages of CA nd sanding.



This ine was easier to turn, but quite difficult to CA finish. Again, it's an Executive kit, but this time with walnut burl.

The tube for the transmission is the same diameter as the main tube, which is helpful. One word of advice: don't make your replacement knob too long (didn't mean to sound rude!). If there's too much length above the clip, it makes the pen look top-heavy and a bit skinny.

Trouble is you need to be the length of the transmission plus a bit more if you're doing it closed end. It's a difficult balance to strike.

If I was doing it again, I think I'd do it open end and make a little flat stainless finial to close the hole.
