I'm slowly getting the hang of this. I turned it between centers, and did a CA finish using Grub32's method, which worked quite well and was easy. I think the problem I've had in the past is that I haven't trusted the process. I apply the CA finish, and then start to micromesh the blanks, and the pen loses its gloss so I panic and stop. This time I went through 12000, then did plastic polish, and the gloss came right back. Trust the process.
It doesn't show in the pic, but the finish is kind of crumbly at the edges of the barrels. I'm pretty sure this is because I applied the CA while the blanks were on the bushings. Next time, I'm going to remove the bushings when it's time to apply the finish.
