Cast the PR last night, made the pens this morning. These colors are very popular here in New Orleans

The top is tapered to give clearance between the slim-clip and the barrel.
The Black and Gold is for the Saints and the Purple and Yellow for LSU

How I make the top

Here is the way I made the top barrel using a cartridge. I now make them from brass round stock on my metal lathe.

Part-off the primer end at the length you want (0.45" is the length I use for the top) and a ring for the bottom.

I cut the 7mm tube to 1 13/16" and the blank to 1 1/2"

Glue the blank on the tube so it is even with the bottom of the tube

Cut tenons for the ring and top and glue. ( I use med CA)

Go slowly when turning the brass ends. You will develop a lot of heat cutting the brass and the heat will cause the glue to break-down.

A 8 deg taper is what I use.
