so is skipped out to the shop. or skated might be more accurate considering the ice storm that hit last night, luckily we still have power. so i went out to the shop to turn the cap on this pen, i made the other part a few nights ago. this is the first successful acrylic double closed end that i have done. this one actually blew up on me a few weeks back but i stuck with it. its based on the baron hardware, i did away with most of the rings and i turned down the coupler a little. i think i'm gonna set up some kind of buffing rig and try to polish it out a little more. but i like it over all. i went with a thicker bottom end so it fits the hand really nicely.

thanks for looking and merry christmas everyone

Did you use a 'pin' chuck to do these closed-ends?

The ribbon blanks don't like to be cold turned(my opinion from past results), that's probably why you had issues...

Good for you to stick with it!!!!

No I don't have a pin chuck. The first blow up was when I turned too thin and had it between centers and it broke.
These i also did between centers, polished half then held the polished half in a pen drilling chuck. Not the best method but did the job.

Nice work on the cap, would like to see a view inside the cap. When I make faux cigar pens that's basically what I do. Reshape the metal center and section to fit inside the tube, or did you drop it all together?
