Here is my first Coffee Bean Pen.
The blank was made by El Mostro.

I love the way this looks but i am not happy with how i assembled it. The ink does not retract when the top is twisted so that leads me to believe that i did something wrong somewhere along the process weather it was squaring or assembly

Blank was finished with CA /huts wax/ plastic polish

now i need to find a source for these

How did i do?

It looks nice... try another transmission from another kit. Also, check the spring in the tip... your trouble is likely one of those two and not something that you did.

you can also get a problem if the spring is in backwards.. larger end
goes toward the exit. Otherwise the small end of the spring can get
pushed into the nib, so the refill and spring are both trying to occupy
the same space..

The short barrel should be the one with the clip mech in it.

Both of your barrels look like long barrels. But that would not cause the "non-retract". What does it do, when you try to retract it, does the nib move in at all?
