I finally worked up the nerve to turn one of my 2 blanks.. decided I wanted a fountain pen for myself, and to show others how it writes.

Beautiful character in the wood, that's for sure.

Everybody else is saying it so I might as well chime in. WOW. That blanks is awesome. I can see why you were hesitant to turn it, but you did the wood proud.

Wow... talk about awesome figure. Nice work.

I know how nerve-wracking that is - I still have a few African Blackwood burl blanks that are amazing... but I am afraid to mess with them ;)

Well, please try to remember! after seeing yours, I think quite a few people
would like to try it too. (I'm one of them! Looks great! )

How difficult was it to turn?

Apparently your sarcasm detector is turned off
I got one from Nolan, and one from someone who later changed their mind about using the one they bought.

Turned quite nicely, similar to Rosewood Burl.

Its nice, and a rare burl, but (and I'm not complaining here) but I find I get a better value from the Rosewood, pricewise. But I'm happy knowing I have something thats fairly rare. (based on attempts to find it anywhere else):befuddled:

I think that for a nice burl, especially if it is something rare that you'll only
do once, you just have to put price aside. It isn't something you'd do every
day, but a treat you do for yourself.

I might have been goofing a bit, but not sarcastic.. I really like it. I prefer
darker timbers and this one has lots of figure in it. I'd make one of these for
myself and stop carrying the 'reject' amboyna cigar that cracked after I
gave it away..
