I had a few slimline kits that were just sitting around and felt like making something different. I replaced the center band with yellowheart and burned 2 ridges into it with a wire. I also went for more of a comfort pen type of profile that flowed nicely into the top and the end of the pen. This was a fun little project and I think I might make more like it since I think I have 8 or 10 slimline kits sitting around. So far the response of folks I've shown it to has been great!
On another note, I think I need to get my camera in for a cleaning :/ or it might just be time for a new one, it's having a lot of trouble focusing, even with plenty of light (2 5400K day light CFL bulbs). The Eos Digitial rebel I got 10 years ago I think might be finally slowing down
