A friend at work took a liking to my pens. She had some walnut that her father had helped cut and stack over 40 years ago. Her husband was planning on making some furniture but she begged off a 6" section and brought it to me. She commissioned this pen for her sister's graduation from pharmacy school. I had three days to do it....I did it in two hours from start to finish. This was fun. Tomorrow I will find out if she likes it.

She loved it. She just walked out the door to drive to Florida for her sisters graduation. The lines were actually light touches with a skew. As you sand and finish the end grain becomes darker mimicking a very fine burn line. Thanks for all the comments. After doing 5 or six of these it sure gets a lot easier.
