Hi Folks,
You'd think that since I have over 70 or so posts I would have actually posted a picture of a pen. Well I'm finally doing just that. This is the 3rd pen that I made, a classic American BP from Woodcraft. The first two were BP click pens that I messed up badly. I messed up this one some too. I cut off too much on the tennon. At the black arrow, I cut it and left a little bit of a dip. I should have made it a little thicker at the blue arrow. Oh well, I'm learning from my mistakes. My wife lost this pen to my dad. CA for a finish.
My next three pens were two cigars and a European. The first is black palm with only a couple coats of CA. The second is some spalted wood from our firewood pile, probably oak.
The European is done in "African Mahogany". At least that is what I was told it was. Is there another more common name, or is this the right name? Very nice wood to turn. Can't wait to get some more of this stuff. I believe the specks on the top and bottom pens is some sawdust.
