It's become somewhat of a tradition to make my parents pens for Christmas, so I couldn't break that tradition this year. I had to work really hard to get these done in time!
The first is a button filler made from vintage blue lizard skin that I got from somebody on here a while back when they were liquidating their vintage materials. It uses an Esterbrook nib, which I chose because my dad used to collect them, and has quite a few nibs now.
The second is a rollerball for my mom, as she isn't as much of a fountain pen person. It's made from vintage purple chip cellulose acetate.
Both pens have nickel silver metalwork. The roller ball was especially fun, as I don't get to do them often . Fabricating the nose cone adds an extra step in, but it's well worth it. Apologies for the bad pics: I didn't have my photography equipment on hand, and my parents wouldn't let me take the pens back home with me to photograph :p

John, both pens look wonderful!

Well done. I also favor a rollerball over a fountain; maybe someday I'll learn the needed skills! In the meantime, the appearance is inspiring - great job!

Outstanding Pens John.
Magnificent Blanks, Expertly Turned, Fitted and Finished.
Glorious Profiles, and Proportions.
A Wonderful Tradition you have Started, and I bet your Parents, are as "Proud as Punch" of their Gifts.
I can fully understand their reluctance and not letting you take them Home with you.
Beautiful Work, and Beautiful Gesture.
Congratulations,
Brian.

Those are absolutely beautiful pens with the creativity and attention to detail that appear characteristic of your work. I have a great deal of respect for one who holds to traditions that honor their elders.
With best of wishes for a Happy New Year to an artist and a gentleman.
Regards,
Doc
